Carnival party

For Kamryn's 6th birthday we decided to have a carnival themed party in our backyard. We had plenty of games planned for the kids and also had a face painting station. We decided to make these really cute popcorn cupcakes, but they were a lot of work. Stephane spent the majority of the day before the party cutting the marshmallows to make them look like popcorn. They turned out very cute though. When the kids first arrived we had them make a little Easter craft while they were waiting to have their faces painted by my mom. Every time a kid played a game they got a ticket and then went to the prize table to pick out a prize for their bag. Jeremy was in charge of the bowling game which the kids loved. My brother was in charge of the ring toss game where they had to toss the rings over the candles on a blow-up birthday cake. We had popcorn in cute popcorn bags and Capri-suns for the kids to snack on. We had a game where they had to drop the cotton balls into a jar, and then they moved on to a game where they had to throw a balloon through the hoola hoop. That was a popular game! My dad had to get creative and start moving the hoola hoop to make it more challenging. My mom was pretty busy painting faces during most of the party and Craig was in charge of the prize table. Stephane helped explain the games to the kids and kept everything running smoothly. Next the kids played the classic game of pin the tail on the donkey. We also had a game with chocolate covered marshmallow clown faces. Two of them were specially marked. Every kid was able to keep their marshmallow clown but the two kids that had the marked clowns were able to get a prize. After that it was time for popcorn cupcakes and presents. The kids were pretty impressed with the cupcakes which made all of the work that went into them worth it. We ended the party with a pinata. It was a great party and all of the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. Later on that night both Kamryn and Macy opened up their birthday presents from the family. Happy birthday Kamryn!
